ADVANCED ENDODONTIC WORKSHOP

This workshop encompasses both theory and hands-on training focusing on various facets of endodontics at foundation and advanced levels. This comprehensive course is designed for both new graduates as well as more experienced clinicians to gain confidence and improve & expand scope of their clinical skills in endodontics.

FOUNDATION LEVEL DAY COURSE

Focuses on the basic concepts of endodontic diagnosis, CBCT imaging and chemico-mechanical aspect of access, modern shaping and advances in fillings of the root canal system. A short hand-on session on the day will focus on shaping and filling of simple root canals. This key foundation knowledge will be utilised in management of complex and challenging clinical scenarios during the two days advance workshop.

THE ADVANCED HANDS-ON WORKSHOP

Involves practical modules over two days with approximately 8 hours of supervised hands-on sessions.

1) Locating and negotiating curved and calcified canals

2) Use of rotary NiTi systems and reciprocating endodontic motors in shaping challenging root canal systems

3) Practical use of MTA cement in obturation of wide canals and perforation repairs

4) Re-treatment with post removal, GP removal and canal negotiation.

The participants will have access to endodontic motor, various NiTi and hand files, obturation system, ultrasonics and other related materials during the hands-on sessions. Operating microscopes will be available; however, the participants are encouraged to bring their loupes on the day. Participants will be given in depth demonstrations of the techniques prior to performing the hands-on training.

• Understanding endodontic diagnosis, case selection and treatment planning

• Reading and interpreting CBCT scans

• Access cavity preparation and locating canals / difficult to locate orifices

• Understanding electronic apex locators

• Use of ultrasonic endodontic tools during treatment

• Implementing practical strategies using modern crown-down techniques in

  negotiating and shaping root canal system with various levels of difficulties

• Identifying and avoiding potential complications during shaping

• Importance of endodontic disinfection and irrigation

• Root canal fillings – modern concepts, techniques and materials

• Core concepts of endodontic re-treatment

• Practical handling of MTA cement in various endodontic situations

• Introduction to operating microscope for endodontic treatments

• COURSE REQUIREMENTS

• This course requires practitioners to collect 12-15 extracted teeth with various complexities (simple teeth for foundation hands-on session and more challenging teeth for the advance workshop). Practitioners are encouraged to bring their loupes. Further details will be provided upon registration.
